Wrath Paine in: I heart teh freebies!

Not sure if your newbie experience in SL was anything like mine, but if so, then you learned to appreciate the value of a good freebie when you could get it. Sure, there were freebies aplenty to be had, but honestly, how many worth keeping? Not that I deleted any of them, mind you, noooo, far from it. Had to collect as much free stuff as I could find! Besides, with good clothes costing upwards of L$250 or 300 - why, that was just unattainable, I say! And it almost was, if you were determined not to put ANY money at all into SL, and didn't want to camp or get a job.

Funny how as time goes on, and I do start putting money into SL (buying $5 USD worth of Linden dollars totally changed my SL experience, by the way, hehe) but the longer I've been in SL, the higher quality of freebies I seem to run across, even though now I wouldn't even hesitate to pay for them. Not that I'm going to turn down a good quality freebie, sheeah, as if. It's just that now, I don't hesitate to delete the lesser quality ones, hehe.

Anyway, the freebies I like best are the ones passed around amongst good friends. I've always liked that part of SL - the generosity I've encountered amongst residents is a good feeling. Gives one hope for a better mankind. Unfortunately, we all know what happens in SL, stays in SL, so I am guessing (real) world peace will have to wait until we escape from the grid in greater numbers.

Okay, enough of a prelude, here's what I'm talking about. One day, I decided that The Inside Scoop®, as well as their owners, The Paine Principle Group, LLC needed headquarters. Only, I didn't have any decent brick textures that could do it justice. I called Alex. He overnighted a delivery of brick textures that would rock anyone's world, most importantly, mine. Thanks dude! You helped make the offices look better than the products they produce, hehe.

And of course, when I mentioned building stuff, and the desire, dare I say need, for a construction crane to prove I was trying to build something more than the odd wooden cube, Elusyve went out and confiscated that very thing for me. Check out this kickass crane made by Arcadia Asylum - totally free!

And I recall the other evening at -=Clockwork=- chatting with Esteban when the topic got around to Emma Peel from The Avengers. Well, a day or so later, I happened across a place that had a nice poster of Emma on the wall, so I sent an IM to the owner complimenting him on his fine taste and next thing I know, a Mr Fred Cameron is sending me free copies of the texture - sweet!!! See how cool people can be?

If I had more time, I'd display tons of other cool freebies friends have provided me with, it's just that these are recent, plus, I've got to run for now.

See, as much as it would appear I have not been blogging often this past week, trust me, it's not by choice. It seems I have some family coming into town this week/weekend to stay with me, so I've been busy preparing for their arrival Wednesday evening. That means, I most likely won't be in SL for a few days. I will have access to the internet from time to time, so all you bloggers out there keep me posted on what I'm missing out on! :-)

Uh, Niya, I think you are supposed to wait until after I'm actually gone before saying you miss me! hehe

Oh wait, you're in a different country, huh? Nevermind, then.

Ah, yes, sorry about that, didn't take time for editing on that post, wanted to make sure I posted something before I headed out. Duly noted and corrected, thanks, DW.
