I know, you're wondering if my walls are back. To this I will say no. I do, however, have a new store sitting in front of the casino entrance. Or at least what I think will be the casino entrance. Yep, there's now a little neon sign shop sitting out there. Maybe to help fund the rest of the casino building project? Not sure. But really, who doesn't need a flashing neon "Open" sign... or "Exit"... or "Bud Light"... although, if there had been a "Liquor in the front, Poker in the Rear" sign, I might have seriously considering walking over to check things out more.

Wow, what an eventful Tuesday in SL this week! It was hugely fun, and I highly recommend each and every one of you try having a fun Tuesday of your own sometime soon. It's well worth it.
Started out with an IM from my buddy Dom who wants me to join him at a Texas Hold 'em table sometime, so I can see if SL gambling feels anything like RL gambling, as I haven't done any online gambling before. And I have a feeling that SL poker might have a more realistic feeling than the usual poker websites, but I'm not sure. And yes, I do realize this would mean I would be frequenting a casino establishment - but unless I'm mistaken, it's not the poker players who are causing all the lag, but rather the casino who have camping chairs with poor scripting, and those residents who participate in that activity. Even as I have noticed, my friend would tell you that there aren't usually many people at the casinos to actually play blackjack or poker, or at least not enough of them to cause lag, as those games generally seem to be all empty tables. And no worries, I'll be sure to only agree to test out this poker activity at a casino location that isn't near residential land and preferably in the sky or otherwise low lag area and definitely does not support camping chairs.
Next IM for the day was from the one and only Alexander Burgess, of course. You know, if memory serves me, I inadvertently volunteered him to be an employee of Wrath Paine's Mantourage Services® with the first contract of employment being for the great Vint Falken. Except I still haven't told him he will be part of a mantourage, or that I name dropped him. Probably a good thing, though, as he was inviting me out for some social fun. Which I promptly accepted.
Little did I know that a mere moments later, I would be playing Truth or Dare with what I affectionately refer to as the Topgol Elite, when in reality, I have no idea where in the heck I was tp'd to, probably not even in Topgol, but only knew that I was sitting amongst Alex, Myg, Sable and the infamous Lisa and Vanny.
Okay, when is the last time I sat down with five friends, just chillin' and hanging out? I would have to say, uh, never. So, obviously, couldn't pass up an opportunity like this! Even if it probably wasn't the most lenient crowd when it came to the Dare portion of the game. Which, fortunately, never happened on my turn, but I'm sure Alex will remember his misfortune for a while yet, heh. Were there any highlights to the game? Well, sure, how often does one get to hear Sable shouts: Wrath Paine I love you!!!! shouted across the region? Of course, I'd love to take that out of context some time for a later blog entry, but I suppose I should state for the record, that was a Dare (DARE: Pick another member of the group and then shout across the sim that you love them), and I begged Sable to choose my name, so thank you, Sable! (And sorry you couldn't be the one to cut and paste that line for a blog post today, Alex, hehe.) I almost scored on the next round as well, as Myg was sitting to my left and the random Dare chosen was: DARE: Say something filthy to the player on your right. But since we have a working relationship these days, nothing as shocking as one might hope or expect. ;-)
What's next on my agenda for the day? Well, weapon shopping, of course. Specifically, I wanted a dual-wield katana set. See, at some point, I'd like to make an alt and have him be all about the samurai - clothing, fighting, all of that good stuff. But looking at all the nice blades out there, I'd feel like I was slighting myself if I didn't buy Wrath something even better than my alt would have! And besides, before I can create an alt and have him be a supposed samurai, shouldn't he already know how to wield his blades? So, why not practice with Wrath? Don't you love how I convince myself to buy new toys? Works every time.
I found what I was looking for, and it was easily the most expensive thing I've purchased in SL, other than land. Surely buyer's remorse would smack me upside the head, right? I happen to be wrapping up a business IM conversation with Myg at the moment I am standing there staring at this glorious weapon, and I mention that fact to her.
Wrath: Shoot, I am standing in front of a display for a duel wield katana... but it's expensive! do i buy it??
Myg: If it's expensive, of course you buy it. what a silly question
Myg: a question only a man could ask
I did purchase the weapon and realize now I must've hung up on Myg soon thereafter, without saying good-bye so I could go play with my blades - so at this time, I'd like to make amends and say: Goodbye, Myg, thanks for hanging out today! Tell Alex I said goodbye, too! There, I'm all current with my IM's now.
Learning how to use these new weapons wasn't as user friendly as I would have hoped, especially considering the How to Use notecard kept telling me I was not allowed to view it - argh! I send an IM to the creator, who did not appear to be online, but was in fact, online. Although it was apparent he was trying to be helpful, he really wasn't, considering his instructions to use any of the 18 animations was: it simple just holf your mous ebutton down and move. You know, lucky for me, the notecard opened long enough for me to see that using the left/right/up/down arrow keys would trigger the moves, otherwise, just holding the mouse button down and moving it around would have done nothing for me. Also, before I accidentally closed the notecard and was never able to open it again, I had noticed that pressing two arrow keys at the same time would also do combination moves. Good to know. Of course, I really want to be able to read the rest of that How to Use notecard, now!!
I want to pick up the CCS device and any others I can find, just to make sure I'm prepared in case of battle. Although I'm sure that's getting way too far ahead of myself, especially if I can't figure out how to use the weapons first!
Tiana is online! I inform her of my katana purchase, since we had discussed this previously and she had mentioned she was in the market for one, as well. In fact, she was ready to purchase one this very moment, so off we go to the weapon store and just like that, she is the proud owner of a combat katana! (She seemed to have no doubts or moments of hesitancy regarding this purchase, but then again, in my defense, I did pay more than twice what she did for hers, I think...)
Obviously, we need to both learn how to use and test these weapons! Back to my place to prepare for battle.

Yay, me! I lasted less than minutes against Tiana's superior kung-fu. That would happen the rest of the evening, by the way. Turns out, duel-wield katana are better for show (which I figure will be most of the time) than for battle - since you fatigue out after only a few swings of the blades and while you are reviving, your opponent can easily finish you off. It's not even a challenge, really, like when you play online games and one person has such bad lag you kill them before they can move half a turn. That's what it felt like, as Tiana's blade was so much more efficient - in that first battle alone, I fatigued out 8 times to her 1, which seemed to be the average per battle. Needless to say, I only managed to defeat my opponent once or twice. So I had to make sure to get photographic evidence, hehe.

Now I need to get some cool ninja moves, like jumping and landing and stuff. As if that will help, any. And I do have to give mad props to Tiana - I can't blame all my weaknesses on a poorly designed katana system - I am pretty sure Tiana is a more than adequate gamer and could kick my butt on plenty of video games. And I'm fine with that. :-)
Anyway, that was a most fun day, but at the very end of it all, Second Life sends me a notice, indicating the group I made will be disbanded in 24 hours unless I meet the two member requirement. Which I could've sworn in the comments section on this here blog here people told me a group of one was perfectly acceptable, hmmmm... At any rate, not sure how often SL checks for requirements and disbands groups, so I've asked a friend or two to sign up with my group for a couple of days, to see if that helps. Hate to think L$100 went to waste! Why would SL have a 2-3 member requirement for groups, and also why do they feel the need to limit how many groups you belong to to just 25? Are groups taxing the system that much? I don't think so.
So, if you'd like to help out with the rescue efforts for my pitiful group to save it from extinction, feel free to search for 'The Paine Principle Group, LLC' and join for a couple of days, it might just save it from being disbanded. :-)

Yeah sorry about the Groups 2 member requirement. I got hit with that too. Damn it!
By the way I added to my own Katana collection. I now have 3!
Did you lose a group over that requirement, Zoe?? I am not sure how often they check for that requirement, since I've had the group for a couple of days, I think, if not a week. Guess they give you time to invite members, perhaps. Not sure why they are so strict on Groups, though...
And a third katana?? Sweet! Swing by when you have a moment for some sparring!! :-)
haha you got beaten by a girl! :P
but yeah having 2 katanas does look more cool but in battle i think its more of hassle especialy since i didnt notice any difference with one or two swords, meaning you get more fatigued but you dont do more damage.
i'm not sure i would have won as often if you didnt have that disadvantage. we'll have to fight again and see ^^
Okay man, what makes you think I don't read your blog? Or for that matter, Mean Girls? I spotted that mess on there with you volunteering me for service to Vint for FREE. No wonder men make such crappy escorts. I've already spent several hours without compensation under the hot lights of her photography studio trying to look "cute" for some horrific ad campaign she had to do so she could pay for her lavish lifestyle. God only knows what I'll have to do now. At least you volunteered yourself as well in the package, so watch your back. ;P
All that and I unwittingly wangled you an invite to Porn Stars (that was the location) to the fabulous home of Lisa and Vanny--for Truth or Dare no less! Oh, I'm feeling the Paine for sure. So, add me to your group and compound your guilt.
Uh, Tiana? You might have noticed I chose my words very carefully, and in no way do I recall using the phrase I got beat by a girl! That's not how it happened! Maybe I let a girl win, does that phrase sound familiar? You were my guest, I couldn't just keep killing you! *g*
You are right, though - I don't see that two katanas dealt more damage, nor did I notice my off hand (left) swinging for any damage unless involved in some rather fatiguing combo move. Oh well, all I can say is: Bring it.

Whoa, cool, sounds like I'm totally mad pimpin' dude!! I've not had to do ANY actual mantourage duties, yet! Guess I'm just the mantourage organizer, you're doing the work quite well, Alex, keep it up, you're making me look good, bro. :-)
Oh, yes, I will add you to my group, and you just wait until you see what member title you end up with, heh.
You better run along now, I think I hear Vint calling for you...
Haha.. You people are soo funny. ^^;
I want to get a pair of claws. I used to wield them in NWN long long ago, and.. well, it's a fun style of attack to play with. ^.^ And I think it fits me quite well. ::Nodnod.::
hehe just admit it babe, you got beaten by a girl! :P and i'll give you a rematch anytime ^^
we need to fight in the sky though, we didnt really get a chance to do it last night
Hey give me a call some time, I have a katana I haven't had a chance to try out in combat yet...
Ah... give me a group invite? It will come handy for me tomorrow. (Yes, strange statement, I know.)
And you might not have extreme ninja skills yet, but the katana suits your look.
I hope Alexander wasn't to pissed at you? :d
